Talk on Turkestan horses to raise money for Grass Sickness Fund

  • A slide show and talk on “Celestial Horses” to raise money for research on grass sickness will take place near Tewkesbury on 16 November.

“Celestial Horses: Travels in Turkestan” will be given by Gill Suttle FRGS, who used horses as transport during her travels through central Asia.

Gill’s presentation will cover central Asia through a camera lens, the present-day role of the Turcoman Horse, the Akhal-Teke and other strains, and the story of one special horse.

As an ME sufferer, Gill used the horse as a form of transport on her travels, developing a special bond with an Akhal-Teke stallion, which she ultimately rescued and brought back to the UK.

The talk will take place on 16 November at Bushley Village Hall, (off the A438) near Tewkesbury, Worcsestshire.

Doors open at 6.30pm and there will be an equine table-top sale, crafts and stalls, a raffle and light refreshments. The slide show starts at 7.45pm. Admission is £4 adults and £2 children under 16. Proceeds will be donated to the Equine Grass Sickness Fund.
