Solent Riding Club Juniors are holding a creative writing and photographic competition to raise funds for Cancer Research.
The idea for holding the “best photo and story” competition was conceived when a young mother within Solent Juniors was diagnosed with the disease.
There are nearly 30 categories — including best mum/dad, best family pet, best cat/dog and virtual horse show, for horses and ponies of all types.
Competitors will enter a photo as well as a story they have written about it and the winning entries will be revealed on 17 January 2009.
Solent Riding Club has already secured about £3,000 worth of prizes including prizes from Next, Farnham, KP Equine, Joules Naf, Mark Todd, the spell it outBSJA, Baileys horse feeds and Horsehage.
Entries cost £5 per class.
Organiser Sarah Bray told H&H: “With this competition we want everyone to know that every penny of their entry fee goes to charity. People like to talk about their pets, family and horses so this way we can give them a chance to tell everyone about them while raising money for a good cause.”
The closing date for entries is 10 January 2009.
