  • A foal the size of a West Highland Terrier has been born in Norfolk.

Tucker, the spotted miniature Shetland, stands at just 43cm tall and weighs in at a mere 10kg.

Tucker was born on Saturday (26 July) at Redwings Horse Sanctuary.

Although weak and struggling to stand after he was born, following some rest and care Tucker is now creating an impression at the centre.

He’s been turned out with his mother, Beau, near to the veterinary unit in close sight of his adoring fans.

“Tucker is an absolute delight and it is lovely to see how this little chap has already captured the hearts of so many at the Sanctuary,” said Redwings’ Lynn Cutress.

“He is feeding well and resting contentedly by his mother’s side, and following a few days building his strength, he is now most definitely full of energy.

“He may well be the smallest foal we’ve ever had here at Redwings.”

Beau arrived at Redwings in foal in April as part of a group of miniature Shetlands whose owner had been struggling to care for them.

The foal was called Tucker on behalf of a Redwings supporter, who asked for a foal to be named in the memory of her late husband.
