Philip Billington dies suddenly on Easter Monday


  • Show jumping judge and course designer Philip Billington has died. He was 64.

    Mr Billington, who lived in Jersey, died at 11.30am yesterday morning (13 Apr) from what is thought to have been a sudden heart attack while driving his car.

    A former chairman of the British Equestrian Federation (BEF), Mr Billington was current a chairman of the International Equestrian Federation’s (FEI) audit and compliance committee.

    He was part of a six-man “doping task force” put together by the FEI to modernise its judicial system in the wake of the doping scandals of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

    Details of his funeral will be available in due course.
