Pantomime horses race for charity

  • Eight pantomime horses from across London and the home counties are taking part in a 100 metre charity race in Regents Park today (Wednesday 10 December). The festive event has been organised by the Hungry Horse pub chain to raise money for cancer information service, CancerBACUP.

The charity race will be started by Britain’s point-to-point lady’s champion of the past four years, Polly Gundry, at 11am and the organisers are hopeful that one of the entries will break the current world record of 16.7 seconds.

David Scott, marketing manager for Hungry Horse, says: “We love having fun at the Hungry Horse and this will be a entertaining festive event to raise money for CancerBACUP. We have high expectations of a record breaking race.”

The organisers are hopeful that lots of spectators will come along to watch the entertainment and cheer on their favourite filly, as well as raising funds for the charity.

Update: CancerBACup merged with Macmillan Cancer Support in 2008. Visit www.macmillan.org.uk for more information on the charity’s work
