Olympic show jumper Ben Maher denies assault

  • Show jumper Ben Maher appeared in court yesterday charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

Ben Maher and his girlfriend Kathleen Baker are accused of attacking his former groom, Megan Pugh, in a pub after Hickstead in 2006.

Ben and Ms Baker appeared in Brighton Crown Court yesterday, charged over an alleged incident on 29 July, 2006. The pair deny all charges.

The jury heard yesterday that Ms Baker and Ms Pugh had clashed earlier in the day during the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in West Sussex.

Ms Pugh alleges that Olympic show jumper Ben and his girlfriend confronted her in a pub after the show, where she was drinking with friends after work.

    The trial continues.
