Nominations for equestrian “Oscars”

  • Find out who’s up for an award at the Animal Health Trust’s annual equestrian prizegiving ceremony this month

Stars from TV, film and sports will join the Animal Health Trust’s president Princess Anne (pictured) and celebrities from the equestrian world at the London Hilton on 31 October for the Animal Health Trust’s annual equestrian awards.

The awards were introduced in 1989 to recognise outstanding contributions to the equestrian world. Former winners include the Queen Mother, the British Paralympic team, the International League for the Protection of Horses and show jumping superstar Milton.

This year’s event will follow a broader formatwith new awards specific to eventing, dressage, showing and show jumping replacing the traditional “Equestrian Personality of the Year” and “top horse” awards.

The awards for racing, voluntary service, veterinary achievement and the Animal Health Trust’s Special Award remain.

Other changes to previous years include the announcement of nominated individuals for the individual discipline awards. A panel of judges from the equine industry will chose the overall winners, who will be announced on the night.
