The tricky problem of sourcing a new trailer is set to get a whole lot simpler with the launch of a new website dedicated entirely to horse trailers.
www.towinghorsetrailers.co.uk is the brainchild of 24-year-old horse owner Penelope Gamble of Brewood in Staffordshire, who, when searching for a new trailer, found the whole process time-consuming and frustrating.
She said: “I struggled to come up with the information I needed. And when I asked around, everyone else I spoke to had had the same problem. So, with this website, I’ve gone and done the leg-work for other horse owners.”
Handily Penelope’s day job is as a website developer, so the site goes live today, just a couple of months after she had the original idea.
She said: “I found there wasn’t an online resource offering comprehensive, impartial advice — so I decided to set one up myself. We will compare details on the various makes and models of horse trailer.
“There will also be a simple calculator for working out how much weight your vehicle is able to tow and you will also be able to search for dealers by putting your postcode into a countrywide search.”
The site will contain information on the legalities of towing, tips on driving and loading horses and trailer maintenance, plus directories of towing test instructors and a news section highlighting new products and developments.
