Mark Todd and Andrew Nicholson handed driving fines

  • Champion event rider Mark Todd may have had a successful weekend Boekelo Horse Trials, but his journey to the event wasn’t quite so profitable.

On the journey through Holland, Mark was pulled over by police for overtaking in his lorry.

He told H&H he was fined “quite a lot of money” — rumours suggest it was around £2,000 — by police in the Netherlands.

Fellow rider Andrew Nicholson, who was driving his lorry in convoy, was also fined.

But once he arrived at Boekelo, Mark’s fortunes changed — and he finished second on nine-year-old NZB Land Vision.

The horse is a former ride of Oliver Townend and the 2008 British intermediate championships winner.
