Lady Christal reigns supreme

  • The Wessex group of the EHPS held its annual awards dinner near Shaftesbury in Dorset on 11 November.

The event was kindly supported by Hilton Herbs, Performance Equestrian, Rydair Saddle Pads and Arabian Link which all donated prizes to be awarded on the night.

The prize giving was dominated by Julie Pedder and her part bred Arab mare “Lady Christal” who went home with no fewer than six awards including overall champion, best part bred Arab and best Wessex results. She also won the Wessex champion 2000 rug donated by the Wessex group to the winner of the Pittvale trophy.

Julie’s husband Vic won the champion’s crew award for the third year in succession and a bottle of champagne, donated by photographer Eric Jones in recognition of the hard work involved in crewing.

The champion pure bred Arab award and the Dundrum trophy, for the best results in endurance rides, were won by Cheryl & Keith Logan’s 15-year-old stallion “Khairho”.

Last years champion, 13-year-old Alex Newman and his 12.2hh Welsh pony “Brookside May Bee” retained the best junior and the best man awards.
