Jockey wins six races at one point-to-point

  • A 20-year-old jockey notched up what is believed to be the first ever six-timer in British point-to-points at the Tivyside meeting last Sunday.

John Mathias, who works for trainer Dai Rees, won six out of seven races he could have contested, the last with a horse he trains himself — Banagher in the confined maiden division II.

“I thought I’d have one or two winners, but I didn’t expect to ride six,” said John.
