Ireland fields its first competitor in international vaulting competition


  • Ireland fielded its first competitor in an international vaulting competition over the Easter weekend.

    Charlotte Rimbaud, 19, has been training and competing in France where she lives in Lisieux in Normandy. At the weekend, she came in 21st in a field of 35 at CVI Saumur in France.

    Charlotte has triple nationality having been born in the USA, lived most of her life in France but who has an Irish mother.

    She said she was pleased with the result but realises she needs to improve.

    “I was pleased but I need to increase the difficulty of my freestyle,” she said. “I’m going to Holland soon to up my training programme.”

    A spokesman for Horse Sport Ireland said: “we hope this will be the start of a new equestrian activity in Ireland.”
