Horse dies and two people injured in road accident

  • A horse has been killed and two people left injured after a crash in East Sussex on Monday.

Three horses escaped from a field next to the A28 at Westfield Lane, near Hastings, at 11pm on Monday (20 October) and made their way onto the road.

A Vauxhall Vectra travelling southbound collided with one of the horses and then hit a Fiat Punto travelling in the other direction.

Police confirmed to H&H that the 33-year-old man who was driving the Vectra was seriously injured and the Punto driver, a 23-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. The horse died at the scene.

The police have no further information on the other two escaped horses.
