Golden Horseshoe on track for record gold medals

  • A record nine riders in the two-day 100-mile class in the Golden Horseshoe Ride, plus 14 in the two-day 50-mile Exmoor Experience, are on track for recording gold medal times despite the unseasonably warm weather and demanding terrain facing horses and riders.

Adam Henson, a reporter with the BBC’s Countryfile programme, successfully completed his first day of endurance riding yesterday and faces his second 25-miles today (Tuesday 13 May).

Organiser Barbara Wigley said: “There are more riders on gold times than we expected. Having these numbers in this amazing weather shows how fit the horses are, and how well riders are coping.”
