Horse & Hound to launch event entry system

  • Horse & Hound has today (Wednesday 6 May) revealed plans to launch a new online event entry system called Equo.

The system is aimed at riders and events to make entering and organising equestrian events easier than ever.

Equo will launch this summer, but event organisers and competitors can now sign-up to register their interest and receive newsletter updates by visiting www.equoevents.co.uk

Horse & Hound’s new event entry website, Equo, will feature a vast range of events in different disciplines and varying levels all around the country,” said H&H’s content director Sarah Jenkins.

“This, combined with the search and planner functions on the site, will make entering events easier than ever before. This is good news for competitors wanting to make the most of their time in the saddle, for organisers wanting more revenue, and for us at Horse & Hound — because there’s nothing we want more than riders out participating in events that suit them and consequently enjoying their horses to the max.

“It’s been fantastic to see how well received the site has been in research, by riders, organisers and governing bodies. We’re hugely grateful to all who have given up their time to give us input and support that has allowed us to create a product I believe will be truly useful to the industry as a whole.”

H&H believes Equo will give organisers more opportunities to increase awareness of their events, as well as making it easier to manage entries and results. This will in turn benefit governing bodies and competitors.

“Around a third of all competitive equestrian events can currently be entered online, with many still using paper and telephone applications,” said publishing director Oswin Grady.

“Many of our readers said they would compete more if there was an easier means to enter events, especially given that the average Horse & Hound reader competes a number of times a month. Early adopters of Equo include some of the UK’s leading event organisers and we’ve already had buy-in from those whose events can’t currently be entered online.”

H&H’s publisher, Time Inc. UK, has invested in leading database and email marketing technology to develop the service and a dedicated regional sales team has also been recruited, headed up by sales director Louise DeNew.

Equo will launch with a desktop and mobile responsive site.
