Criccieth Stud ponies sent to World Horse Welfare

Following H&H’s news report on the condition of ponies at a recent Brightwells sale and concerns over the welfare of one consignment in particular (news, 26 May), some of the ponies involved have been signed over to World Horse Welfare.

The charity visited Evan Lloyd Evans’ Criccieth Stud, Gwynedd, after receiving complaints from the public. As a result, a number of the stud’s ponies have been signed over to the charity, which intends to continue working with Mr Evans.

Field officer Tony Evans said: “We are pleased to be working closely with Mr Evans.”

Commenting on the attention the story has received online, he added: “There have been allegations on the internet which, at this time, have proved to be unfounded.

“It is great that members of the public are so passionate about the welfare of horses, but we must be sure that the true facts are disseminated.”
