  • More than 700 competitors are expected to compete in the final of the SEIB Trailblazer competition at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh

The final of the South Essex Insurance Brokers Trailblazers competition takes place on 14, 15 and 16 September at the National Agricultural Centre in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. More than 700 riders are expected to attend having qualified at over 30 show centres nationwide.

Launched in November 2000, Trailblazers is organised by the Permanent Show Organisers Association and supported by Horse & Hound and BHS. Qualifiers have been well attended, with nearly 200,000 unaffiliated competitors taking part from around the country.

Norman Bargh, Trailblazer organiser said: “The trailblazer series got off to a bit of a shaky start with the outbreak of foot and mouth, but it has exceeded everyone’s expectations.”

Competitiors with two clear rounds or a dressage mark of 58% went forward to the second round. First and second placed riders in the second round then qualified for the final at Stoneleigh.

The dressage final for prelimary, novice and elementary classes takes place on 14 September. The show jumping final for75cm, 85cm, 95cm and 1.05m classes is being held during 15 and 16 September. Entry for spectators is free.
