British Horse Society celebrates 70,000th member

  • The British Horse Society’s 70,000th member was presented with a bottle of champagne last Thursday (9 October) at the Horse of the Year Show.

Olympic show jumper Tim Stockdale presented BHS member Lindsay Parkinson with the champagne in celebration of being the society’s 7,000th member.

Mr Parkinson owns two horses, a mare called China and a yearling called Perdy.

He said: “Today has been absolutely great. I was thrilled to discover I was the British Horse Society’s 70,000th member and look forward to enjoying the champagne!

“I am lucky to have grown up surrounded by horses and have had knowledge passed on to me over the years, but there are so many people out there around horses without sufficient welfare knowledge. The work the BHS does in providing education to prevent suffering is vital.”
