Britain bids for Europeans
Britain is bidding to host the 2005 European Endurance Championship.
Endurance GB has chosen the Wiltshire-based Hilton Herbs Alfred’s Tower event for the bid after considering a number of other venues including Goodwood, Fontwell and Newmarket. The event takes place in the scenic grounds of the National Trust’s Stourhead House.
The last major endurance championship held in the UK was the European Young Rider Championship held at Cirencester Park in 1997.
Before that, Britain hosted the European Championships at Southwell in 1993 with considerable success, landing a team gold and individual gold for Jill Thomas with her legendary Egyptian Khalifa.
