The bid to unite Britain’s three endurance riding societies moved a step closer at the weekend when members of the Endurance Horse And Pony Society agreed to continue progress towards the formation of Endurance GB at the society’s annual meeting.
EHPS chairman Fran Kallaway, who was given a standing ovation for her work in the role over the past three years, said: “I am glad that democracy and common sense have prevailed. The EHPS Council is committed to working towards the formation of Endurance GB.”
A postal ballot will now be held by the British Endurance Riding Association and EHPS to secure the dissolution of both societies.
The Christmas newsletters of BERA and the EHPS will carry ballot papers for the formation of a new committee.
Both societies have agreed a ride calendar for 2001 which will be run according to the existing rules of both societies.
If Endurance GB goes ahead, a new set of rules will be drawn up to swing into action in time for the 2002 season.
