AP McCoy was named Sportsman of the Year at the British Sports Awards yesterday (Wednesday, 8 December).
He is the first jockey to ever win the award, which was voted for by members of the Sports Journalists Association.
Earlier in the week (Monday 6 December) AP was named Jump Jockey of the year for the 12th time at the Derby Awards, voted for by members of the Horserace Writers and Photographers Association.
This all places him in a good position for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, which is voted for by the public on Sunday 19 Decmeber.
The jockey has recieved strong support from the industry and has also been backed by Ladbrokes, who have produced a video “Straight from the horses’ mouth” featuring AP’s Grand National winning partner Don’t Push It.
