Alison Barton wins Equiport young rider sponsorship competition
Young showjumper Alison Barton will receive £8,000 worth of equipment after winning Equiport’s young rider sponsorship competition.
Eighteen-year-old Alison has received a full set of Equiport products, including personalised rugs, saddle cloths, made-to-measure show jackets and stable accessories — plus £1,000 towards entry fees.
Alison Barton, who lives near Bradford in West Yorkshire, was selected as member of the World Class pre-start programme in January.
She was a member of the team at the Junior European Championships in 2009 — where the team finished fourth.
Her plans for 2011 include contesting the Wales and West young rider trials with top ride Verlindo, and she hopes to be selected for a young rider nations cup team.
Alison described her win as “amazing”.
“I’m so lucky. I think the sponsorship will definitely make a huge difference to my performance this year,” she said.

Equiport director, Ashley Gaynon, added: “Alison is a rising star, and we are delighted to be backing her with sponsorship — we hope it’s a huge help to her.”
