Pony Club members selected for hunting exchange in USA


  • Four young riders have been selected to take part in the 2011 Pony Club Hunting Exchange in the USA.

    The programme will take place in Virginia and Maryland from 1-9 March.

    Pony Club members aged 16-25, with their Pony Club B Test or higher, were invited to apply for selection on the exchange. More than 20 members applied for a place.

    Amy Lawson-Croome, 20, from the Tynedale Hunt branch, Rachel Ware, 17 from the Spooners and West Dartmoor branch, Joanna Dunn, 19 from the Craven Hunt branch and Lauren White, 18, from the Curre Hunt branch will take part.

    The trip is hosted by the United States Pony Club. The girls will also be joined by four members from Irish pony clubs as well as USA Pony Club members. Participants and chaperones will be staying with Pony Club host families or hunt members.

    Pony Club chairman Cherry Michell, told H&H: “The International Hunting Exchange is a wonderful opportunity for Pony Club members to experience the different hunting terrain and customs of the other countries. Those who have taken part previously have had a fantastic experiences and made many lifelong friendships.”
