Wiegersma is top at Tweseldown

  • British national champion Lucy Wiegersma won the open intermediate at Tweseldown’s final event of the season with her new ride Elisabeth Ross’s Zebedee VIII. The pair finished on their dressage score of 34.8 and were one of only three cross-country rounds inside the time.

Selina Elliott was second in this section, riding Angela Wise’s seven-year-old Magenta. Another new partnership, they finished just 0.9 of a mark behind Lucy, bang on the optimum time.

Time-penalties relegated Clare Lewis and her seven-year-old Sidnificant to third place, while Louise Skelton and her 2005 Blair winner Partly Pickled finished fourth. Louise was also seventh with dressage leader Loubar Showman.

Sam Griffiths took fifth place on Tyrella Redskies, while Nicola Tweddle finished sixth with Skiver, eighth on The Bees Knees V and ninth with Opposition Buzz.

The cross-country time eluded everyone in the three intermediate sections. The first, section A, went to Austin O’Connor on Kate Jarvey’s Lily Of The West. Cindy Rawson won intermediate section B on Julie Kelvie’s Disgrace. The final intermediate section went to Louisa Lockwood with Elizabeth Le Sueur and Carol Seymour-Newton’s The Diva.
