Top names heading to relaunched Dauntsey Park Horse Trials

  • Dauntsey Park Horse Trials is returning to the eventing calendar after an 11-year break.

Organised by event rider Beanie Sturgis and Jean Russell, who previously organised Charlton Park Horse Trials, the Wiltshire event runs from 3-5 October.

Dauntsey Park Horse Trials began in 1973 and last ran in 1997.

Many top names including members of the recent Olympic bronze medal-winning team William Fox-Pitt and Mary King are expected to compete in this year’s event. Andrew Hoy, Matt Ryan and the Fredericks are also set to take part.

The event includes two new cross-country courses built the Willis Brothers — the builders behind courses at Badminton, Gatcombe and past Olympic Games.

Classes will include pre-novice, open pre-novice, pre-novice plus, novice, open novice and intermediate novice. Sunday’s action will include a winner-takes-all high jump competition.
