So you want to own an eventer?

  • Join The Eventing Club to enjoy ownership of a event horse and a share of its winnings

If you have wondered what it’s like to own a top event horse, but never had the money, then a new scheme launched by the Elite Racing Club may be right up your street.

The Eventing Club is designed to providing eventing enthusiasts with the opportunity to experience the thrill of owning a top horse for just £149 per year. As a club member you can enjoy watching your horse compete, as well as taking home a share of its winnings.

“The concept is an expansion on the success of the Elite Racing club,” explains managing director, Daniel Downie. “We hope to provide eventing enthusiasts with a real insight into event horse ownership at an affordable price.”

At present the club has just one young horse, Captain Mumble, which is being ridden by international rider Darrell Scaife. Captain Mumble is a five-year-old gelding, which was placed in last year’s Burghley Young Event Horse final.

Darrell believes Captain Mumble is a real horse for the future,” says Daniel. “His first affiliated event was at Burnham Beeches earlier this year, where he did a 35 dressage and went clear inside the time cross-country. The club is feeling very positive about his next outing at Longleat on 30 May.”

Although the club only has one horse at present there are plans for expansion.

“The Elite Racing Club started with only a couple of horses,” says Daniel, ” and 10 years on we now have a whole string. We are looking for another horse with potential for Darrell to ride at the moment and we plan to add more horses and riders as the club develops.”

Member benefits include regular newsletters, stable visits and a car pass giving free entrance to one-day events as well as discounts to major three-day-events.
