OLIVER TOWNEND was presented with £3,000 on 5 November by Lord Carnarvon for winning the Mitsubishi Motors Stately Homes Challenge, despite the cancellation of the final.
This was scheduled to be held at Highclere Castle in August but it was cancelled due to waterlogging. Oliver was crowned the winner after scoring the most points at the previous four events.
In the absence of a final, the original first prize of £5,000 was shared between Oliver and Andrew Nicholson (£2,000), as both riders had alternated at the top of the leaderboard throughout the challenge.
