New sponsor for Burghley

Pedigree’s parent company steps in to take on sponsorship of Burghley Horse Trials
Burghley Horse Trials has a new title sponsor. The horse trials which were sponsored by Pedigree since 1995, will now be supported by its parent company, Masterfoods, the new name for MARS’ food and pet care business in the UK.
The sponsorship secures Burghley’s future for 2002 and 2003, following a bleak year for eventing. This popularautumn event was one of the few trials to go ahead during 2001 due to FMD.
Burghley event director, Bill Henson said: “This is excellent news both for the event and for the sport. These are difficult times and a two-year sponsorship agreement provides security for the event and is a real boost for British eventing.
“We had a trying time last year as a result of the foot and mouth outbreak, but with the support of the public, the competitors, the sponsor and the team behind the event, we managed to put on one of the most successful Burghleys to date.”
Masterfoods has also announced that it will be continuing its sponsorship of the Pedigree Dog Agility Championships at Olympia and the Pedigree Fun Dog Agility Arena at Badminton, Bramham and Gatcombe Park events.
