Floors Castle Horse Trials


  • Dee Kennedy and Big El put a disappointing Chatsworth behind them with victory in the Eric Gillie-sponsored CIC** at Floors Castle.

    Gary Foggon and Bonny Bank Jay Jay finished second after a smattering of cross-country time-faults and one rolled pole put paid to their five-point lead after dressage.

    Ruth Edge was third on Fast Track, with younger rider taking the next three places. Chloe Newton finished fourth on General Greenfont, with Tanya Buckingham fifth just only 0.4 of a penalty ahead of Lucy Holliday.

    The open intermediate section was won by David Gatherer on Jean McAllister’s Rockhill Kashmir ahead of Jamie Atkinson on Lucy Holliday’s High Times. Caroline Powell walked away with third and fourth places on Patricia Melville-Evans’s Mac Macdonald and Maeve Chadwick’s Got the Look.

    Young rider Victoria Vaughn-Thomas made her long trip from Wales worthwhile as she galloped away with first and fourth places in the intermediate . Riding Olivia Tappin’s King Of The Hill, she finished just ahead of Grace Macrae and Porthill Rusty Nail.
