Event rider remains critical

  • Event rider David Herron, 27, remains unconscious in hospital following an accident at last weekend’s Burgie Horse Trials in Scotland.

It is thought that the horse he was riding, Mrs Enderby’s Jet Skier, suffered a fatal heart attack when it collapsed on himduring their show jumping round.

David, an event rider based in Northumberland, was immediately airlifted to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he was heavily sedated and placed on a ventilator.

A CT scan revealed no damage to his brain and doctors are continuing to assess his condition.

Photographs and a tape recording of his two-year-old daughter Elise have been sent by her mother, Michelle Silverton to the hospital to help David regain consciousness.

The couple are separated and Elise lives with Michelle in Aslington, Northumberland. The rest of David’s family remain at his bedside where a spokesperson from the hospital said his condition is critical but stable.
