Staffordshire-based Kelly Macpherson has landed the ride on the former Burghley winner Diamond Hall Red.
Kelly has bought a share in the 12-year-old from owner/breeders Pat and John Smith. He has been with Kelly for a week and, following a couple of OI runs, will be aimed at an autumn CCI.
The horse has previously been ridden by Mark Todd, who won Burghley CCI**** with him in 1999 and Leslie Law, who competed at the Lexington CCI**** with him earlier this year.
“Unfortunately, my qualification has run out, so he’ll have to do a CCI**,” says Kelly,”but hopefully we’ll get cracking at a higher level next year.”
Kelly spent a year training with Andrew Hoy and then Gill Watson as a junior.
