Connolly’s Red Mills to sponsor Eventing Ireland spring combined training

  • Connolly’s Red Mills will be sponsoring Eventing Ireland’s (EI) regional pre-season combined training leagues this year.

These leagues act as a form of competitive pre-season training for both horses and riders, to build fitness and get the adrenalin flowing.

Red Mills’ nutritionist Nia O’Malley will be at certain legs of the league, to give advice on feeding and nutrition. Rosettes and merchandise supplied by Red Mills, as well as prize-money, will be presented to the winners and runners-up.

Red Mills’ Catherine Rudenko said: “We are very happy to be part of the training league — it’s a great way to get warmed up for the season. We are looking forward to another busy year with the Super League [also sponsored by Red Mills], and would like to again thank all the competitors who took part last year. Best of luck to everyone in the training leagues!”

Eventing Ireland chairman John Wright commented: “EI has had a very fruitful relationship with Connolly’s as a sponsor in recent years. The extension of their interest into regional training is greatly appreciated by the regions and competitors.”

The South Leinster Region and the Munster Region will be holding these combined training leagues. The South Leinster Region leagues will be at Coilog, every Sunday in February.

Maryville Equestrian Centre (EC) will host the Munster Region leagues on 6, 20 and 27 February. International dressage trainer Gisela Holstein will be at the sessions on 6 and 27 at Maryville EC, to judge and instruct each rider at novice and intermediate level for 15min after their test.

The training leagues will be comprised of classes of dressage and showjumping, to encompass intermediate, novice, pre-novice, junior, pony A, pony B and intro. The results of the leagues will be on the Eventing Ireland website after each session.

Entries are 30-40 Euros and competitors can enter online via www.eventingireland.com.
