Riding for Athens selection

  • Britian’s top dressage riders, who have been short-listed for the Athens Olympics, will go head-to-head at the senior selection trial at Addington Manor EC on Saturday, 8 May.

Combinations including last year’s bronze medal-winning dressage team — Richard Davison (Ballaseyr Royale); Emma Hindle (Wie Weltmeyer); Nicola McGivern (Active Walero) and Emile Faurie (Rascher Hopes and Lucky Star) will be in action, as will Carl Hester (Escapado); Fiona Bigwood (Nector Van Het Carelshof) and Peter Storr (Gambrinus).

The selectors have ensured that 11 of the 12 short-listed combinations will compete at the event, which is open to the public.

All competitors will ride the FEI grand prix test with Olympic team selection at stake. The final team, plus reserve, will be announced on 1 June.

The final team will have a pre-Athens warm-up competition in Aachen (13-18 July), while the rest of the short-listed riders are expected to contest Hickstead CDIO (21-25 July).
