New coach for British Dressage


  • British Dressage appoints Ferdi Eilberg as the new World Class Performance Director of Coaching

    Former Olympic rider Ferdi Eilberg takes up the reins of training for dressage and Paralympic riders as they prepare for major championships, such as the World Equestrian Games and Olympics.

    Working closely with the other members of the Performance Management team, Ferdi will develop rider-focussed training programmes and help riders and their trainers achieve their performance targets.

    Dressage performance manager Ian William said: ” Ferdi’s arrival on the management team further strengthens the support for our riders and will enable us to build on the progress we have made so far. We are delighted to have him on board.”

    A professional rider and trainer , Ferdi originates from Germany but has been resident in the UK since 1980.

    He trained in Germany with Dr Reiner Klimke and Johann Hinnemann,, who now trains the successful Dutch rider Coby van Baalen. He has ridden for Britain at the European Championships and World Equestrian Games. He was also dressage trainer to the British Three-day event team from 1981-1992 and accompanied them to three Olympic Games.

    Ferdi, who will be based at his home in Beoley, Worcestershire, said: “I am very excited about this new role – Ian and I will be starting working together immediately and hope to make a real difference for ourriders.”
