Markus Gribbe to train Team Berkeley

  • The Bechtolsheimers’ former stable rider and trainer Markus Gribbe has joined Tony and Sarah Pidgleys’ Team Berkeley at Kilbees Farm Stud, Windsor.

Markus, 43, left the Bechtolsheimers’ Gloucestershire yard in March, having trained British World Equestrian Games team member Laura Bechtolsheimer for five years.

He will now coach Sarah Pidgley and Team Berkeley’s stable rider Damian Hallam both at home and at competition, as well as training the Pidgleys’ FEI level and young dressage horses.

Sarah said: “We are thrilled to have Markus on board. His experience as a trainer of talented dressage horses as well as being a great coach is exactly what Team Berkeley needs. He will be of great support to us, bringing extra ambition and renewed enthusiasm to our stable.”

Markus, who won three Nations Cups for Germany with the stallion Plaisir d’Amour, previously trained the German Bavarian disabled riding team for eight years.

He will be joined at Kilbees Farm by his wife Sylvia and daughter Joya.
