Laura B takes WEG medal haul to three

  • Laura Bechtolsheimer completed her silver medal hat-trick at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, scoring 85.35% in the grand prix freestyle riding her parents’ 15-year-old Mistral Hojris.

Laura said: “I’m so proud of my horse, for him to handle the atmosphere in there tonight and keep trying for me is amazing.”

Laura just had a few mistakes, one in the tempi changes and a misunderstanding in the last piaffe. She rode to her Cees Slings Shadows compilation and admitted: “I rode this freestyle for the first time at Windsor Europeans and have only done it a few times so we’re still growing into it.”

Edward Gal made history with Moorlands Totilas becoming the first man to win three gold dressage medals at a World Equestrian Games. They had a few blips including a break from extended trot to canter but still scored a massive 91.80%.

Edward said: “He wasn’t so easy to ride in there tonight and we had a few mistakes but still he gave me an amazing ride once again and I’m so happy with my horse.”

America’s Steffen Peters took bronze again on former World Cup winner Ravel.
