Karachi sparkles in Spain


  • British Olympic team member Richard Davison is making great strides with his up-and-coming ride Hiscox Karachi on the Spanish Sunshine Tour.

    The partnership produced its best result to date when finishing second in the grand prix freestyle in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain with a score of 72%. The German-bred gelding, by Warkant, moved up three places in the freestyle from fifth place in the grand prix.

    Former pony and young rider medal winner Maria Eilberg also enjoyed success in the grand prix freestyle, moving up from 18th in the grand prix to finish third in the kür, just behind Richard, on 69.33% with Two Sox.

    Bronze team medallists at the 2003 European Dressage Championships, Nicola McGivern and Active Walero, continued their consistent form by finishing third in the grand prix and second in the grand prix special.

    Denmark’s Lone Jorgensen and Ludewig G won the grand prix and the freestyle classes with scores of 71.833% and 74.78% respectively. Alexandra Simons de Ridder from Germany took the grand prix special.

    In the small tour classes, Carl Hester continued to fly the British flag with Pro-Set. They continued their good form from the first week to take second in the prix st georges with nearly 71%, behind Spain’s Beatriz Ferrer Salat and Cassandro, and win the intermediaire I with nearly 73%.

    In the six-year-old section of the FEI young horse classes, Sarah Millis has been unbeatable with Timberland III. The pair won both the FEI six-year-old preliminary test with 78.8% and the FEI six-year-old final with a staggering 83.6%.
