Britain beats Swiss at Aachen

  • A solid performance by anchor Richard Davison (pictured) , riding the Danish Ballaseyr Royale secured sixth place for Britain at the dressage Nations Cup at Aachen CDIO Germany.

The combination made just one mistake to score 68.04% but the test wasmarred by a slight lackof concentration on Royale’s part.

“Normally, she is beautifully concentrated on me, but as I entered the arena I knew I was only just holding onto the communication line,” said Richard.

Twice in the test the mare called to Hiscox Karachi in the nearby stables.

“I’m never disappointed by her though, if she scored over 68% with her mind on other things then I know she can come through any test.

Earlier, Britain’s Fiona Bigwood and her Rhineland mare Habbana 3, scored 64.71%.

Germany was once again the Nations’ Cup victor with Ulla Salzgeber and Rusty leading the team on 75.88%. The Germans, however, were hard pushed by the U.S., who lost out by just 49 points.

Lisa Wilcox the German based U.S. rider on the chestnut son of Rubinstein, Relevant, improved on her mark last year by more than 4% to score 73.54%.

The Spanish team was third, while the Dutch without Ellen Bontje or Anky Van Grunsen were pushed into their now customary fourth place. Sweden were fifth, with Britain sixth and the Swiss seventh.
