Anky van Grunsven’s Salinero still recovering from injury

  • The Netherlands’ Anky van Grunsven’s Olympic dressage and World champion Salinero will be out of action longer than predicted following an injury to his withers.

The gelding was found in his stable with swelling around his withers 10 days ago. Anky said at the time that he would need just three weeks off, but since there has been no improvement he will now not be able to carry a saddle for at least a month.

Husband and trainer Sjef Janssen explained on Anky’s website [www.anky.nl]: “The capsule around the protrusions of the vertebrae of his withers is damaged. After one and a half weeks it’s not much better so Anky won’t ride him for a month.”

Anky is campaigning Salinero for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky this September.
