Pingu, a Tibetan Terrier has been named Friskies Beta Dog World Pup of the Year at the Brewery in London.

The terrier, whose show name is Araki Pick Up a Penguin, came through to win from more than 10,000 contestants over a period of 11 months and 28 heats held throughout the year.

Choosen from a final line-up of 28, judgeHans Lehtinen said: “This terrier is a beautiful example of the breed and his personality really shines through.”

Mike Gadsey from Marton, Blackpool has owned the dog since he was a 12-week-old. However, in spite of Pingu’s recent success,he won’t be competing at this year’s prestigious Crufts Dog Show, as his owner says he prefers to wait until Pingu has matured.

It is hoped that eventually this talented terrier will follow the success of previous Pups of the Year and goon to be Supreme Champion at Crufts.
