Olympic dressage saddle proves a winner

  • Reigning World champion and Olympic gold medal-winner Isabell Werth, helped to develop the new Bates leather dressage saddle from Weatherbeeta, in conjunction with her trainer Dr. Schulten Baumer, and Bates Saddlery.

She believes the extra-deep seat makes a significant difference, taking the effort out of sitting in the correct position. “This seat encourages the rider to sit straight and drop their stirrup length, at the same time leaving them room to move rather than being locked in a fixed position,” she says. “By being comfortable and close to you, your horse will feel more responsive and willing to work.”

The easy-change gullet system also means the saddle can also be quickly adjusted to suit the constantly changing shape of your horse.

    Available in black only in sizes: 16 1/2ins, 17ins, 17 1/2ins.

    Cost at around £1,299
