Focus on Louella Stud

  • Nomadic Way and Rainbow High are two of the toughest, most consistent and genuine racehorses at stud today, with class and pedigrees to match. Together they ran 145 miles in 72 starts, won or placed in 55, including 23 Group or Grade races, with winnings of £560,728.

Lord David S and Criminal Law are proven sires of advanced eventers, point-to-point winners, Burghley Young Event Horse finalists, show jumpers, dressage horses and numerous show winners. Need we say more!

Primitive Star and Primitive Proposal (pictured above, by kind permission of Jeannie Clarke) are two exciting sons of leading event sire, Primitive Rising, with outstanding looks, athleticism and temperament combined with extravagant movement. Primitive Proposal is currently preparing for eventing in 2005 with Emilie Chandler but will return for the stud season.

Louella Stud was founded by Louis Massarella in 1934. We have continually produced top class stallions that have been exported all over the world. The Irish Field named Louis “Stallion man of the century” in the 1990’s.

Thirteen of the horses entered at Burghley International Horse Trials in 2004 were sired by stallions that have stood at Louella. Louella stallions have sired the winner of the Burghley Young Event Horse Final on six occasions, along with Olympic contenders and Cheltenham Festival winners.

We invite you to come and view our stallions and inspect our first class facilities, all housed within a purpose-built stud. Great pride is taken in our management and excellent fertility results are achieved. We offer outstanding value for money but never compromise on the quality of stallions we stand or the service we provide. This is the reason we have prospered for more than 70 years and we aim to remain at the top for the next 70 years.
