Jim Fitzpatrick, Minister for Food, Farming, the Environment and the Horse, is planning a meeting with the Department for Transport (DfT) to discuss issues raised in H&H’s “Stop the transport madness” campaign.

Defra — and the DfT — have been inundated with correspondence from MPs and individuals asking for clarification on a European law that effectively bans anyone with a full-time job driving their HGV horsebox — or, in some instances, a lorry over 3.5 tonnes — at the weekends (see transport feature,29 October).
