Erin Orford, British paradressage rider

  • Erin Orford, born in 1990 in Buckinghamshire, is a grade II British paradressage rider.

She began riding aged two at the local Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) centre.

Born a bilateral amputee, Erin is missing radius in both arms, causing shortened lower arms and four fingers on each hand.

Erin’s disability did not stop her enjoying activities such as netball, basketball and table tennis whilst at school.

Inspired by the 2004 Athens Paralympics, Erin started para dressage and was talent spotted in 2005.

This lead to being chosen for the World Class Development Programme in 2006.

Erin continued to juggle her school and riding career and after gaining a 2:1 degree at Birmingham University in business management, Erin went on to ride full time and compete successfully.

Erin’s competition results include the grade II under-21 championships at Millfield, as well as champion and reserve champion at national level.

Erin hopes to continue her career and be selected for the London 2012 Games with Nivana Morroko, whom she bought in 2010 after previously loaning horses.
