Two jockeys injured and horse killed during a collision on US racecourse

  • Two jockeys were injured and a horse died after a collision at an American racetrack last weekend.

    LS Sunrise ridden by Carl Williams suffered a fatal aneurism during a race at Turf Paradise Racecourse in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday (9 November).

    Fellow jockey Alberto Higuera, riding Arizona Twist, was unable to avoid colliding with the pair.

    Both jockeys were taken to hospital but released on Sunday night. Mr Higuera suffered a broken collar bone and Mr Williams a bruised leg.

    Arizona Twist was unhurt.
