Top showjumper Wonderboy III sold to Denis Lynch

  • Wonderboy III, ridden at the London Olympics by Syrian showjumper Ahmad Saber Hamcho, has been sold to Ireland’s Denis Lynch.

In a part-exchange deal, Denis’s talented nine-year-old stallion Contifex (Cornet Obolensky / Coronino) has gone to 19-year-old Ahmad, who finished 62nd in the individual showjumping at Greenwich with the grey gelding.

“I’m gutted to lose a horse as good as Contifex, but that’s the nature of the business,” Denis told H&H.

Wonderboy, a 13-year-old son of Flamenco De Semilly, was ridden by Ben Maher until 2010. One of their biggest wins was the Zurich five-star Rolex grand prix in January of that year.

Wonderboy was initally produced by Adam Cove followed by Georgie Crumley (nee Strutton), who sold the grey gelding to Ben and the Quainton Stud in 2008.
