  • A video of a jockey experiencing an embarrassing “wardrobe malfunction” has gone viral online.

Australian rider Blake Shinn was riding in the Hyland Race Colours Plate in Canterbury, Australia yesterday (Thursday 24 April) when his breeches fell down — exposing his bare behind to the world.

Blake was riding Miss Royale when he showed a little more than he’d bargained for.

The 27-year-old kicked on — and lost his breeches.

However, after the elastic failed him, Blake carried on undeterred, finishing second to Defender. Modesty finished third.

“I was more worried about winning the race. The pants went just after the start and there was nothing I could do,” he said afterwards.

“I think a lot of people are going to have a bit of fun with this, but they can’t say I wasn’t focused and went to the line.”

Winning jockey Tommy Berry added: “What a great race to win. It meant I was the only one that didn’t have to stare at Blake’s arse the whole way up the straight.”

The racecourse’s acting chief steward Greg Rudolph said: “He needed a belt at the 200-metre mark. We usually report gear malfunctions but we are leaving that one alone.”

The red faced-rider seemed unfazed about the coverage, as later Tweeted: “Now I know how Jen Hawkins feels. Tried to give my fellow jocks a bum steer but unfortunately backfired.”

This refers to an incident when the model’s skirt fell off on the catwalk in 2004.
