Clayton Fredericks has told H&H that he is "devastated" after the death of 11-year-old Nullabor at Saumur CCI*** on Saturday.
The horse died instantly of a suspected broken neck after a fall on the flat early on the cross-country course with the Australian rider.
Clayton said: "It was on the flat, between fence two and three, a galloping section, we came to the corner, he was set to turn and he slipped and stumbled.
"He went down very quickly and must have hit his neck in the wrong position."
The Fredericks bought Nullabor as a three-year-old and he was Clayton's second ranking horse after Ben Along Time.
