Hayley Turner has been released from hospital after suffering a crashing fall on Seal Of Approval at Doncaster yesterday (12 September).

Britain’s leading female jockey only returned to racing 12 days ago having broken her ankle in a fall at Yarmouth earlier this summer (26 July).

She fell with Seal of Approval when the horse clipped heels with another horse.

Hayley received immediately treatment on the course before being transferred to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

She was kept in overnight but was released this morning after all her scans came back clear.

Hayley’s agent, Guy Jewell, said: “Hayley has been released from hospital. She’s now at home with her mum and is just battered and bruised.

“She is fine despite suffering significant soft tissue injuries.

“The CT scan and X-rays all came back clear so she just has to receive from the bruising. Hopefully, she’ll be back sooner than later.”

In 2012 Hayley became the first female jockey to win a Group One race outright, when she won the July Cup aboard Dream Ahead. She then followed it up with a second Group One win in the Nunthorpe with Margot Did.

A new South Yorkshire competition venue opened its doors to riders for first time last Sunday (30 October).

Derby House Stables, in Mattersey, Doncaster, hosted an unaffiliated showjumping competition with classes up to 1.20m.

Former pony eventing European medallist Lindsey McDonald is based at the equestrian centre, which boasts three brand new arenas plus an all-weather dressage area.

Weekly dressage and showjumping events are planned and an eight-acre cross-country track is also on the cards.

Owner Juliet Harrison said: “We have created a lovely setting for the local community and it was good to see so many people having a wonderful day.”

Racing greats including John Francome and Pat Eddery are getting back in the saddle for a charity race at Doncaster racecourse later this year.

The Leger Legends race will be held on 8 September, the opening day of the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival, to raise money for two charitable projects that benefit jockeys and stable staff.

John told H&H he is riding out already and is looking forward to the race.

“This is such a good cause,” he said. “But I last rode in a race at Kempton about three years ago [in aid of Richard Dunwoody’s Shackleton South Pole Expedition] and I’m still blowing from that!”

Former champion National Hunt jockey Peter Scudamore, 10-times champion Irish jump jockey Charlie Swan and Kevin Darley, former champion Flat jockey and now chief executive of the Professional Jockeys Association, have also been confirmed to ride.

The race will be run over a mile. A spokesman for Doncaster added that Lester Piggott will present the prizes.

The money raised will go to The House that Jack Built, a project to build the first residential centre for injured jockeys in the north, coordinated by former trainer Jack Berry, and the development of accommodation and facilities at the Northern Racing College, Doncaster.

Eight sets of racing colours are to be auctioned off next week in aid of the T4Toby Trust.

T4Toby was set up for 10-year-old Toby Cunliffe who was diagnosed with a type four brain tumour earlier this year.

Toby, who loves sports and horse riding, has undergone aggressive chemo and radiotherapy but now needs specialist proton therapy, which is not available in the UK.

A total of £180,000 needs to be raised to send Toby to Boston in America to undergo the therapy.

The charity has already raised more than £120,000 but more is still needed.

The silks will go under the hammer next Tuesday, 25 August, at the first day of Doncaster Bloodstock’s St Leger sales.

The British Horseracing Authority has given a year’s registration for each set, and the silks have been donated by the manufacturers. All money raised will go straight to the trust.

• Emerald green, brown epaulets
• Light blue, royal blue armlets
• Royal blue, dark green armlets
• Dark green, royal blue armlets
• Emerald green, brown armlets
• Light blue, purple armlets
• Royal blue, dark green epaulets
