What the organisers say

Chatsworth represents a great ambition for many riders, for the “big-time” atmosphere of the main arena — which has the Duke of Devonshire’s house as a magnificent backdrop — and for the imposing but fair cross-country courses created by Ian Stark and David Evans.

Every effort is made to provide first-class footing and decent prize-money and the event provides an appropriate stepping stone for horses progressing in international competition.

The beautiful setting, tradestands and attractions, as well as the opportunity to visit Chatsworth itself, one of England’s 10 Treasure Houses, make it a memorable outing for all connections.

What the riders say

Dressage & showjumping — “Flat arenas in a quiet location away from all the excitement.” “There were lots of spectators and it’s a good one for riders who need to be under that extra bit of pressure.” “For the advanced dressage you are the only one in the main arena, but it is very flat and there is lots going on.” “Showjumping has a nice big warm-up and the course is
strong and up to height, as well as being in a very atmospheric arena, so not for the faint-hearted or first-timer.”

Cross-country — “Beautiful courses.” “Tough tracks that reward the brave, but are not for first-timers.” “I felt the final hill in the three-star was unnecessarily punishing on an already undulating track.” “A true championship track and a real sense of achievement on completion.”
